| Does the Sonnet USB 3.0 ExpressCard/34 support bus-powered 2.5" USB 3.0 drives? | Jul-11-13 |
| Typically not. The Sonnet USB 3.0 ExpressCard/34 can supply only USB low power specification power (500mA@5V = 2.5W) for only one low-powered device. However, 2.5" USB 3.0 drives typically require 3.5-4.5W and will not start unless external power is applied to the storage device. Some customers have had success using a LaCie USB 3.0 Y cable, which will draw power for the drive from the computer's USB port. http://www.lacie.com/us/products/product.htm?id=10572 |

| Do the Sonnet USB 2.0 or USB 3 cards support the Apple SuperDrive? | Apr-02-22 |
| None of Sonnet's Cards with USB 2.0 or USB 3 (either Type A or Type C) ports support the Apple SuperDrive. You must use a built-in USB 2.0 or 3.0 port on your Mac.
According to http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5630, "The Apple USB SuperDrive is compatible with Mac models from 2008 and later that don't have a built-in optical drive." |
