733 Tempo SSD Pro/Tempo SSD/Tempo SATA Pro 6Gb 4-Port Firmware Updater 1.0Jan-29-2013
Operating System Requirements: Mac OS X 10.6+
Description: This macOS software updates the firmware in very early versions (mid 2014 and earlier) of Sonnet's Tempo SSD Pro, Tempo SSD, and Tempo SATA Pro 6Gb 4-Port PCIe cards with the Marvell SATA controller. Later versions of these card (mid 2014 and newer) with the Marvell controller have current firmware. This updater will not work on the most recent versions of these cards that have an ASMedia SATA controller. You need this update only if your version of a Marvell card will not support booting in a Mac Pro. This firmware update enables your card to support booting when the card is installed in a Mac Pro running OS X 10.6.8+

Instructions:
1. Click the Download Now button to the right.
2. Locate and, if necessary, open the MarvellFlasherGUI.dmg file.
3. Double-click the Marvell 9182 Flasher Installer X.x.pkg file to launch the updater application installer.
4. Follow the onscreen instructions; the updater application will be installed into the Applications folder. Note that in order to complete the installation, you may have to navigate back to the Finder to click OK in a dialog window stating the application was installed.
5. In the Applications folder, locate and double-click the Marvell9182FlasherGUI.app file to launch the firmware updater application.
6. Select your Tempo card (if it isn't already selected), and then click Update.
7. Restart your computer; the firmware updater will load, appearing as text on a black screen.
8. Type "y" when prompted; the Tempo card's firmware will be updated. Note that you will be prompted a second time if you are updating a Tempo SSD Pro card; type "y" again.
9. Press the return key to close the firmware updater application and restart the computer.

Notes:
Do not shut off your computer while it is updating the Tempo card's firmware; the card may become disabled
• After the firmware is updated, your card will continue to operate as before when installed in a Thunderbolt-to-PCIe expansion product or in a Windows PC

790 Tempo SSD/SSD Pro/SSD Pro Plus/SATA Pro 6Gb 4-Port Firmware Updater (Windows)May-08-19
Description: This installer will upgrade the firmware in a Tempo SSD, Tempo SSD Pro, Tempo SSD Pro Plus, or Tempo SATA Pro 6Gb 4 Port card to remove or add the EFI or BIOS boot ROM image. Normally this utility is not needed; however, if you are using any of these products in a Windows machine that implements EFI (Extensible Firmware Interface), we have found some of these machines are incompatible with the Mac-based EFI boot ROM that ships with the product. Typically only newer (2012+ Windows Machines) implement EFI. This utility gives you the option to:

• remove the ROM image altogether
• replace the ROM image with the original ( a combined EFI/BIOS image)
• replace the ROM image with a BIOS only image

Installation:
The included disk image file must be burned to a CD. Then, it can be booted from; it will run a DOS-type shell (actually FreeDOS). The Tempo card must be present in the system when this utility is run. Once in the DOS shell, change to the TempoSSD directory by typing

cd TempoSSD

You can do any of the following tasks:

• remove the ROM image altogether
type GONOROM

• replace the ROM image with the original
type GOROM

• replace the ROM image with a BIOS only image
type GOBIOS

It should find one or two devices, depending on your product. Type "Y" to start programming. After completing, remove the CD and reboot the computer.

Apple supports Boot Camp only on internal drives. See Apple's support page, Set up a Windows Partition on Your Mac, which states "The drive you're partitioning must be an internal drive." The Tempo SSD appears to the Mac Pro as an external drive, because it uses a controller connected to the PCIe bus, and not to a controller on the motherboard. Sonnet can't support a configuration that Apple doesn't support. If you want to use Boot Camp from an SSD, you need to make it an internal drive. Plug the SSD into a Sonnet Transposer, screw it into one of your Mac Pro trays, thereby making it an internal drive.

9TO5Mac has published a proceedure to install Boot Camp on an external drive, but Sonnet does not support this.
