| The Sonnet FireWire/USB ExpressCard/34 and the FireWire 800 Pro ExpressCard/34 do not provide 12V power to bus powered FireWire devices. The cards have a 12V power input connector to provide FireWire power. If additonal bus power is required, Sonnet's World Travel Power Adapter (http://www.sonnettech.com/product/f2acpoweradater.html) provides sufficent power to drive external FireWire devices.
Note: 12V power should be connected to the FireWire 800 Pro ExpressCard/34 card before a bus powered FireWire device is connected, or the device may not mount (until it is disconnected and reconnected). Also note that 12V power MUST be unplugged from the FireWire/USB ExpressCard/34 and the FireWire 800 Pro ExpressCard/34 before the card is powered down from the computer menu, or a system error may occur. |
