No. Booting Mac OS X from a drive set to the Slave position is not supported. In order to boot Mac OS X from a drive connected to a Tempo card, the drive must be set to the Master position.
 
164 Hard drives connected to a Tempo ATA100 installed in Power Mac G4 (Quicksilver 2002) models cannot be selected for use as a startup disk. When you attempt to select a drive connected to the Tempo ATA100 under the Startup Disk control panel, the system will freeze.May-07-09
