570 My VFibre system is not booting. I get "A disk read error occured".Jun-27-11
718 I'm unable to save FCP project files onto the SAN volume, getting an "Unknown File" error message.Oct-18-12
This has been a known issue with Final Cut Pro 5, 6, and 7. Currently, the best practice is to open and save project files locally such as on your Desktop (only the .fcp file. The media can obviously stay on the SAN). When you are done working with with the project you can safely copy the project file to the SAN with the Finder to store it and then when you want to use it again you copy it back down to your Desktop. The only issue obviously becomes versioning control. Unfortunately there is no real work around and is an issue with Final Cut Pro when it is writing the actual project file to a SAN volume. If you decide to continue to work directly off the project file on the SAN you WILL continue to get this error at random intervals and when it happens your only recourse is to do a SAVE AS and save it to a local disk. If you really need to store project files where multiple people can access it then you might want to look into Final Cut Server because when you check out a project in Final Cut Server it actually stores the checked out copy of the project file locally and then when you check it back in it copies the file back so the project file is never actually being written by Final Cut Pro to the SAN舒 Tech Tip coutesy of Christopher Colline, Senior Systems Engineer, Mac Professionals.

719 My performance is lower than I expected. Does the drive order matter?Nov-02-12
728 My MetaLAN performance from the VFibre is less than I expect. What can I do?Dec-05-12
729 If I'm upgrading or swapping a VFibre system, is there anything special I need to know?Dec-05-12
738 What kind of fibre patch cables are needed for the Sonnet Fibre Channel controllers?Mar-29-13
The cable length depends on fiber speed.

For 8Gb connections:
LC 62.5/125 OM1 Multimode Duplex cables...up to 20m (Sonnet cables TCB-FBR-xxM)
LC 50/125 OM2 Multimode Duplex cables......up to 50m
LC 50/125 OM3 Multimode Duplex cables......up to 150m
LC 50/125 OM4 Multimode Duplex cables......up to 190m

For 16 Gb connections:
LC 62.5/125 OM1 Multimode Duplex cables...up to 15m
LC 50/125 OM2 Multimode Duplex cables......up to 35m
LC 50/125 OM3 Multimode Duplex cables......up to 100m
LC 50/125 OM4 Multimode Duplex cables......up to 125m

Each fibre cable represents two MMF (Multimode Fiber) fiber optic cables: one for transmit and one for receive (the color of the cables are usually orange). A LC duplex style connector is needed to plug into Sonnet-supplied fibre channel cards.

LC stands for Lucent Connector. The LC is a small form-factor fiber optic connector. A duplex LC connector takes two simplex LC connectors and attaches them together. The term 舠 LC cable舡 is generally used to describe a fiber patch cable with two fiber strands, and a LC duplex connector at each end.
