36 What are the benefits of supporting Spread Spectrum Clocking (SSC)?Mar-02-10
Spread Spectrum Clocking is a way to lower electromagnetic interference or EMI. This is important for storage solutions that are required to pass FCC and other agency certifications. All current Serial ATA disk drives implement SSC (some allow you to turn this feature on/off). However, some older SATA drives do not implement SSC. All Sonnet Serial ATA host adapter cards support SSC but will also work with disk drives that do not.

106 Is Tempo SATA E4P, E4i, X4P, or X4i compatible with Red Hat Linux?Sep-02-09
Tempo SATA E4P, E4i, X4P, and X4i are supported under Red Hat Enterprise 4 Linux with Marvell (TSATAII chip set) drivers. The Marvell Linux driver supports direct connect drives but not port multipliers, so there is no compatibility with the Fusion D4Q, Fusion D5P, Fusion R4Q and Fusion R4P storage systems. As in Windows, drives must be connected at boot time.

404 The Sonnet Tempo SATA card does not work with my Western Digital My Book Premium ES Edition, or Seagate Technology FreeAgent Pro.Mar-02-10
Sonnet Tempo cards are compatible with most external SATA storage. However, external hard drives with USB 2.0/eSATA dual interface based on the Oxford Semiconductor OXU931DS storage controller chip may not be compatible with Mac OS X when connected via SATA. Known issues are kernel panics occurring when the drive is connected, or the drive not being recognized by the operating system.

757 My Stardom RAIDSonic ST3620-2S-S2 is not reliable with 6Gb drives and and a 6Gb controller.Jul-08-13
The Stardom RAIDSONIC ST3620-2S-S2 is not reliable when connected at 6Gb. It was designed for 3Gb SATA. If you connected previously using a 3Gb controller, even with 6Gb drives, the connection was 3Gb. With the 6Gb controllers and 6Gb drives, the connection is negotiated at 6Gb, but the connection is not reliable because of the older design of the Stardom chassis does not support 6Gb. The drives may not be recognized or if recognized, transfers will fail at some point.
