Description: This software informs macOS that the Echo 11 Thunderbolt 3 Dock and the Echo 15 Thunderbolt 2 Dock can provide 7.5W USB power, which allows the Dock's USB 3 port to: charge iOS devices at 7.5W instead of 5W; power the Apple SuperDrive; and power bus-powered USB peripherals plugged into an Apple USB keyboard. This software is not required for any other periperals or purpose.

This software is compatible with macOS 10.14-macOS 12. This software is enabled only when you first connect all the appilcable USB devices, and then hot-plug the Dock's Thunderbolt connection to the Mac.

Yes, the DVD must be connected to the connector that is the USB 3-to-SATA bridge for full compatibility with macOS. It's the SATA connector closest to the front, which is the connector closest to the 4-pin molex power connector.
 
986 Which optical drives can I install in the Echo 15?Dec-29-17
Any 12.7 mm optical drive will nominally fit. However, the plastic front panels of different optical drive models are in at slightly different heights and some may not line up with the front panel opening without interference. We recommend:
DVD Burner Hitachi-LG GTB0N or GTC0N
Blu-ray Reader Hitachi-LG CT30F
Blu-ray Burner Panasonic UJ-260 (tray loader) or Panasonic UJ-265 (slot loader)
