394 After waking from sleep, my Macintosh will give me a "Device Removal" error for a USB storage device. Why?Aug-19-09
This is an issue with Mac OS X and all PCIe USB cards connected to a storage device in a Mac Pro or PowerMac G5. This applies to the USB ports in the Sonnet Tango FireWire/USB PCIe, Tango FireWire 800/USB PCIe and Allegro Express USB 2.0 cards. Sonnet has notified Apple, who has declined to address this issue at this time.

817 Storage connected to a USB 3 PCIe card (or Tango combo card) gives an macOS error message upon wake from sleep.May-12-20
To minimize power usage during sleep, power is removed from PCIe cards. Because of this power-saving specification, a USB 3 PCIe card is unable to maintain USB port power during sleep. In macOS, this result in a storage device disconnect upon wake from sleep. The storage device will automatically remount, but the system reports a disconnect message. Because macOS flushes all caches before sleeping, this disconnect should never result in any loss of data.

If the FireWire card doesn't function after it has been physically installed in the computer, try the legacy FireWire driver. To install the legacy driver, complete the following:

Press the Windows key + R.
Enter devmgmt.msc.
Click OK.
In Device Manager, expand IEEE 1394 Bus host controllers.
Right-click on 1394 OHCI Compliant Host Controller.
Click Update Driver Software.
Click Browse my computer for driver software.
Click Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer.
Click 1394 OHCI Compliant Host Controller (Legacy).
Click Next.
When Windows has finished installing the driver, click Close.
